My Languages Glossary

Hi, my name is Erica Pepin. I am living in Terrebonne. I have been studying a technical for a semester at Montmorency College, and my field of study is Financial services ans insurances. The glossary that I have made had word that is usefull to understand well Financial services and insurances specific terms. It is also to understand the basic word of my field of study. This glossary is made of important words and difinitions joined my field of study.

advice
An opinion or recommandation offered as a guide to action. conduct, etc.
allowance
A sum of money alloted or granted for a particular purpose, as for expenses.
appointment
A fixed mutual agreement for a meeting; engagement.
authority
The power to determine, adjudicate, or otherwise settle issues or disputes, jurisdiction the right to control, command, or determine.
bank account
Balance standing to the credit of a despositor of a bank.
benefit
A payment or gift, as one made to help someone or given by an employer an insurance company, or a public agency.
business
A person, partnership, or corporation engaged in commerce, manufacturing, or a service; profit-seeking enterprise or concern.
conference
A meeting for consultation or discussion.
contract
The written form of such an agreement.
customer
A person who purchase goods or services from another, buyer, patron.
dept
Something that is owed or that one is bound to pay to or perform for another.
finances
The management of revenues; the conduct or transaction of money matters generally, especially those affecting the public, as in the fields of Banking and investment.
insurance
The act, system, or business of insuring property, life, one's person, etc., against loss of harm arising in specified contingencies, as fire, accident, death, disablement, or the like, in consideration of a payment proportionate to the risk involved.
investment
The investing of money or capital in order to gain profitable returns, as interest, income, or appreciation in value.
money
Any circulating medium of exchange, including coins, paper money, and demand deposits.
office
A room, set of room, or building where the business of a commercial or industrial organization or of a Professional person is conducted.
rider
An additional clause, usually unrelated to the main body, attached to a legislative bill in passing it.
risk
The type of loss, as fire. marine disaster, or earthquake, against which an insurance Policy is drawn.
responsability
The stade or fact of being responsible, answerable, or accountable for someting within one's power, control, or management.
sinister
Threatening or portending evil harm or trouble ominous
